Amalia Mayita Mendez resides in New York City where she works as a freelance photographer for newspapers and other publications.

For the past several years she has also focused her attention on her spiritual practice, studying with her teacher Derek O’Neill. Her business SUNDARAM PHOTOGRAPHY can be summed up in a quote given by her teacher. “…To allow God to witness God in action”. Her photographic and spiritual practices are intrinsically linked and it is her goal to allow beings the opportunity to truly see themselves through the healing act of being photographed. The photographs themselves are imbued with a loving energy and are a reminder to the subject of their own God given essence.

Currently she is blessed to be in El Salvador working with Derek O’Neill and his foundation, The Prema Agni Foundation, a charitable organization which provides food, clothing, shelter, education and love for children and adults in need, facilitates many other community service projects in India and the world, and establishes healing centers and animal sanctuaries throughout the world. They are in the process of building a school for a small community in a remote section of the country.
